The Wave Pictures have probably made more albums than you.
Bassist Franic Rozycki and guitarist/vocalist David Tattersall first started jamming in the village of Wymeswold, Leicestershire in the late ‘90s, initially under the name Blind Summit. Later drummer Jonny “Huddersfield” Helm was added to the line-up and an illustrious career of lightning fast DIY recording sessions began to harness David’s increasingly impressive, near-compulsive songwriting talent.
12+ (the figure is debatable) albums later and they have become a much-loved feature of the UK indie landscape, often mentioned in the same sentence as hallowed names like Billy Childish and Herman Dune – and deservedly so.
Matt sits down to discuss Wymeswold, the death of the indie solo and that time they toured America by mistake.
*Belated podcast correction: Big Pink Flamingo Burning Moon was released in February 2015, not 2014, as stated.
